As some of you may already know, I started reading a lot during my pregnancy leave in June. I’ve had slower months of reading since, but haven’t stopped yet! In 2017 I’ve read 20 books, and my Goodreads challenge for this year is 25. I thought I would get to read a lot less because of work.. But I’m currently waaaaay ahead of schedule 😉
So far during the month of January and February I have devoured 9 books. Which doesn’t seem like much at all to an avid reader… But for me it’s a lot!
1- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I started rereading Harry Potter in December, and it brings back so many good memories! I loved this series so much growing up, and I couldn’t imagine what my life would be like if I hadn’t. I’m taking a break from the series to catch up on some other reads first, but plan to read the Goblet of Fire really soon.
2 – A Court of Mist and Fury
I LOVED this book (and the first one) so much. Everyone is raving about this all over the internet, and I thought “Hey, I should give that a try!”. Boy, am I glad I did! I read this in two days, and felt a bit sorry that I had just rushed through it because I seriously wanted this to last forever… I can see myself rereading this series in a year xD
3 – Around the World in Eighty Days
Sometimes I need to throw in a classic. This one has been on my book shelf for over 6 years, and I put off reading it for far too long. I really enjoyed it, although it was a bit too stiff to my taste (I don’t know if that makes any sense?).
4 – Everless
I received this book in my December Fairyloot box. It was really interesting, but I wanted a bit more… I felt like the story had just started at the end. I guess we’ll have to wait for the sequel then!
5 – The Well of Eternity
This one took me a bit longer to read. I am a fan of World of Warcraft, so I started buying the books in 2017 to know more about it’s universe. This is the first instalment of the War of the Ancients trilogy, and although I did get sucked into the story right away and actually loved most of the characters (which apparently a lot of people didn’t…), I did feel as if it was a bit long and stretched. It took me a while to get through this book (it’s high fantasy, so a lot bigger than the YA fantasy I’ve gotten used to lately) but I enjoyed it in the end.
6 – Crown of Midnight
The second book of the Throne of Glass series is just as good as the first one, which I loved really much! I need to read the rest of this series as soon as possible xD I was a bit disappointed with the romance, but I’ve already heard better things are coming 😉 It’s amazing how different this series is from A Court of Thorns and Roses, and also how very much alike they are. I can’t tell which one I like more!
7 – Red Queen
There are a lot of people who don’t like this series because of the main character Mare, and I have to agree with them up to a certain point. No I did not at all agree with her. Her thoughts and actions are very different from what mine would have been, but people are different and I liked reading this book regardless. I liked everyone else very much, apart from one specific character that I’m not going to mention. And I think this series has a lot of potential, so I can’t wait to see what happens next.
8 – Scarlet
I never thought I would love, yes LOVE, a sci-fi story this much. Ok, it’s YA and it’s based on fairytale characters, but cyborgs, droids, spaceships and other sci-fi stuff never have been of much interest to me. Until now, that is! I would binge read this series if I had the rest of the books… Luckily I don’t, this way I can stretch the fun some more!
9 – An Ember in the Ashes
This was a reread for me. I read this two years ago, and I loved it! I remember reading it all night until I had to get up and go to work xD That’s why I didn’t remember some parts, and wanting to read the sequel this year, I thought it would be best to reread this one. It was even better then I remembered and I can’t wait to read a Torch Against the Night.
Currently reading: Miecz Przenaczenia (The Sword of Destiny)
