Since I’m reading A Game of Thrones, I decided to share some of George R.R. Martin’s quotes. He’s said a lot of things that are worth thinking about. I picked out 5 shorter quotes I liked, about life and books:
“There has to be a level of joy of what you’re doing.”
“All fiction has to have a certain amount of truth in it to be powerful.”
“Our differences are insignificant compared to what we have in common.”
“Nobody is a villain in their own story. We’re all heroes of our own stories.”
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
That last one is actually a quote from one of his books (I haven’t read it yet), but I included it because I think it’s the best one out there.
There are definetely more strong quotes in his books, but I’d only want to share those if I’ve actually read them. Out of context they might not have the same meaning…
